This is the episode before the mid-season finale and I was very excited to see what direction the story went for the first half of the season to lead into the second half!
Well, I guess that answers the question about Glenn. I guess it makes sense since the rumor is that Negan is on the way, so they need to save Glenn for that heartbreaking scene. Here is my thoughts on the whole situation. The death of Glenn in the comic is so iconic that I’m afraid that is ruined now in the show, since they faked it. So here’s what I would do, if I were the writer. I would flip the script. I would put Daryl in Glenn’s place with Negan, have him kill of Daryl. That way, it will be as iconic as in the comic because Daryl is a beloved character in the show, non-existant in the comic and would have the the same shock value as far as iconic goes in the show as it was in the comic. Or at least close. To me, that’s the only way out at this point. You have fake killed Glenn at this point so the huge initial shock of his death at Negan’s hand is gone. So do something no one would expect to really make it iconic. Oh, and we get to keep Glenn in my scenario! I’m not going to speculate or discuss Enid at the moment.
Maggie, I loved her character in the beginning, but for the past few episodes her fake southern accent is becoming very distracting. I hope they figure out what’s causing that and get it under control before it makes her character too annoying to like anymore.
Morgan, even in this state, is still in the top tier as one of my favorite characters on the show. I am biased, I know, because of his role in the show Jericho, I have loved everything he has done. I sincerely hope they keep him in the main character role and use him more and more in some way.
The best quote of the night, “The people around you dying, that’s the hard part.” The best commercial during the show, the Fallout 4 commercial of course! What’s with the blood going through the walls? I have no idea. No clue.
I did quite like the interaction between Glenn and Enid in this episode. Sure, she did pull a gun on him but it all worked out for the best…so far. The dialogue was good, the scenes were good. The two had good presence on the screen together. I think that segment was a win! Not that they are friends or anything, just good presence.
Overall, I think this episode was good. I am not sure how I feel about the whole Glenn situation still, the feelings still aren’t processed. But overall, I think it was a successful episode.
