Hey guys! I just wanted to put up a quick blog to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and to extent a personal THANK YOU for helping make this blog successful this year! As of this post my blog was at 8353 original hits, that’s incredible to me! So, yes, thank you so much for reading my nonsense and for continuing to come back and read blog after blog. If anyone has any suggestions about what they’d like to see more/less blogs about feel free to comment on here and let me know. I’m debating doing some fun things like making a running list of games I am playing, games I have completed. Perhaps making a running list of what I am reading, etc. I don’t know for sure yet. But I will continue to blog about the main things, TV, comics, Movies and games! Thanks again for hanging out with me an from my family to yours, please enjoy this holiday season!
It’s that time of year, the time of year where we stuff our faces, sit on our butts and watch football with the family all the while letting each other know what we are thankful for. I don’t really have anything witty to do for this blog but I wanted to do a quick one just to tell everyone that reads my blog Happy Thanksgiving! I know, personally, I love smelling the smell that fills the house on the day you do your cooking (be it on Thanksgiving or before, or after, we are doing ours Wednesday because of work but it’s the same Holiday regardless of when you celebrate it)! Right now my house smells of turkey cooking in the over, pies that were baked last night. Delicious. Thanksgiving morning/day is Macy’s Parade time then football, today is all about the family, food and Dan Gheesling playing Fallout 4 Youtube Videos! Earlier today I let our son pick out the present he wanted to get Mom for Christmas and we got that on order, he picked a very cool piece of art for her, I think she’ll love it! I’m debating on when to put up the Christmas tree this year, typically it’s the day after Thanksgiving but we both have long work days that day, so not sure yet. I don’t know if I want to get into putting pictures of food and stuff in these blogs, it may be cool but at the same time some people hate it. So I haven’t decided YET, but if I do decide to start using pics and stuff in blogs and you don’t like it, just ignore it, if you do like it then enjoy it!
Among many things, such as my family, friends which I won’t name individually but know that if you fall into this category I am very thankful for each and every one of you! There are A LOT of people that I miss dearly this Thanksgiving but I’m sure they are celebrating and thinking about us as we celebrate and think about them, it’s a beautiful thing. And I am thankful for all of you that read my blog as well. Since it started it now has over 4,000 views, which is phenomenal considering I am boring as crap. In any case, spend time with those you love, enjoy some fantastic food and some fantastic football (the Panthers play the Cowboys) and then watch some awesome TV, play some awesome video games and share that love with your friends and family!

So in the spirit of the season I figured I would do a little blog about Halloween and how it’s changed, in my opinion, over time. Being in my 30’s now (wow) I look back at Halloween as a time when you started right before dark and you went to little communities and you walked from house to house collecting candy. The parents typically sat in the car and waited on you to get back from your walking adventures. There was such a sense of accomplishment as a kid for doing this, you were getting candy, which was awesome, you were doing something on your own, awesome and you were having fun doing it. I’m sure it wasn’t the most safe thing in the world the way we did it but that’s how it was done! My how things have changed…
Now, having a 7 year old, I see how trick or treating is done and it really breaks my heart. Basically they go walk through town, in daytime and perhaps pop into a large store to get candy. No after dark, freezing in your costume adventures to speak of. Now, I know the world is a dangerous place, and I do understand why this has changed. It’s just a sad state that people have to worry about their kids being safe to go get and eat candy that they live in the same town as once a year. I mean, come on (to quote Jimmy from South Park). Are people so evil nowadays that no one can do anything fun anymore without that constant threat? I guess, considering the things that happen nowadays, the answer is no. But it truly is heart breaking to know that.
That being said, Halloween CAN still be fun! We don’t have to let it focus on trick or treating. Buy a bang of candy, have a family night where everyone sits around and eats candy in the dark and watches either scary movies or Halloween classic movies depending on the age bracket and taste of the family. That can be as fun as trick or treating! Heck, even have some family and friends come over and join in on it and make a night of it! Not the same thrill as trick or treating but in life the key is to adapt. Find a way to make Halloween fun again, find a way to keep it safe and adapt that to make your own family traditions!
Everyone have a happy and safe Halloween!
