Mr. Robot Season 1 Episode 1

Today I wanted to check out Mr. Robot and share my thoughts. I haven’t heard much about this show nor do I really even know what it’s about going in so this blog is a fresh look at it from a clear slate. So let’s get started…

So as I said I went into this show without any prior knowledge of the show and not really knowing what to expect. The first 10 or 15 minutes of the show, though, really had me hooked. I have to say that Rami Malek is doing an INCREDIBLE job on this show so far. So to break it down from a broad perspective briefly the show seems to be about a hacker named Elliot that works for a security firm by day and a vigilante hacker at night. Soon into the show we are introduced to Mr. Robot, a group that is doing a new kind of hacking where it’s all down face to face with the real world as the encryption code. This episode really does a great job introducing the characters and really making the viewer care about the characters. Later in the show we see Elliot save the day from E(vil( Corp’s hacker and  that leads to the main part of the story line. The episode ends on a very cool note (no spoilers).

In conclusion, I did go into this show not really knowing if I would like it or not. But yes, if you’re not watching this show you should really at least watch the first episode as I think if you’re a fan of this type of story you’re going to love it.

Superstore Season 1 Episode 5

SuperStoreSuperstore (TV series) Title” by Source (WP:NFCC#4). Licensed under Fair use via Wikipedia.

Today we dive into the fifth episode of Superstore, I just had to watch and blog about this episode to see if it continued to deliver the comedy that the previous 4 episodes have so far! The episode just came on tonight and I am excited to get started, so let’s do it…

Before the opening title sequence I had already laughed twice. That’s saying something. In the first few minutes Glenn is trying to let everyone feel emotion and he really steps it up with the funny. He had me laughing during their meeting as well. The chemistry between Dina and Glenn really evolved in this episode, I think that’s going to be a fun duo to watch! In this episode we go introduced to Amy’s daughter, her acting is just like Amy’s, very good job! Dina’s line ‘Got ya you gorgeous piece of garbage’ was probably the funniest of the episode up until that point. Dina has really stepped up her comedy game this episode, she really shined! To be fair, Glenn also stepped up his game this episode too.  Jonah in the restroom was hilarious, I laughed so hard. The customer in the main story line is so accurate it hurts.

Between the few story lines that are active in this episode every one of them is very funny. This episode kept up the same quality of comedy and store as the previous episodes. The actors are really coming into their own on this show! VERY impressive and a very good show! If you aren’t watching this show yet you really need to!

Batman: The Killing Joke

Today I want to talk about one of my favorite comics of all time. Batman: The Killing Joke, a timeless classic written by Alan Moore. I have this in my collection as a hard cover and it’s one of the first comics I shared with my fiancee!

The comic is one of the best written comics I have ever read, the art is simply fantastic and it’s a comic that you will want to revisit time and time again. The book is a lead up to one final joke from the Joker. And it’s worth it. If you have read this comic yet, then you should, immediately! Even if you’re not really a comic fan but love Batman and/or the Joker, check it out!

Cards Against Humanity

Today we are going to take a look at the game Cards Against Humanity. It’s a very fun and HILARIOUS game for adults that is incredibly fun to play. If you’ve never heard of it I would be surprised. At the bottom of the blog you will see the link to purchase your own copy of the game on Amazon while helping to support this blog as well!

Anyway, I played this game a few times and I have to say that it was hilarious every time. It did NOT get old at all while I was playing it and I actually look forward to playing it again. I won’t go into specifics on how the game works but it’s very perverted, dirty and it’s ONLY for adults! It makes for a very interesting night with a group of friends, that’s for sure! Just be ready to laugh going in, that’s my only advice!

Chris’ Picks of the Day 1/9/16

I’m going to try a new thing on the blog and see how it goes. Occasionally (possibly daily or a few times a week) I will go through Amazon and find the items I pick to be the best items of that day. This could be anything from games to movies to music to detergent. It will be based on my current mood, what I am doing and what I am in the mood for. I will probably just list some items and put a link to them below where I talk about them If you use that link you are supporting me, you are supporting the blog and you are supporting my hobby to buy more stuff to blog about. So let’s get started….

Today’s first item is the movie The Martian. This is a movie that I am REALLY wanting to watch. I’m going to purchase this one myself soon and probably do a review of it. I have heard only good things from everyone about this movie. If you’re into sci-fi check it out, but use this link!

or the blu-ray

My next pick is the Amazon Fire 7″ tablet. Why you may ask? Because I have bought THREE of these tablets and they are GREAT. They have the power to do pretty much anything I want to use a tablet for, music, reading, streaming movies and tv shows, playing games, twitter, facebook, the whole ordeal. And at this price you simply can’t go wrong. Amazing deal!

My third pick today is the pre-order for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Why? Because it’s Star Wars! I haven’t seen it yet but I do plan to do this same pre-order for the digital download.

And my last pick of the day is the novel The Short Drop! I reviewed this book a few blogs back, so be sure to check that out! Get your copy here:

That’s it for today! Make sure to use the links in this blog to get your items! If there are items you’d like to see listed in one of my daily picks let me know and I will check them out! This item didn’t make it in today’s top picks per se but I say it and thought it was awesome, check it out and you all have a great day!

Real Rob – Season 1 Episode 1

real robToday I am taking a look at the show Real Rob. It’s a series that follows Rob Schneider’s life as he navigates through his work life and his personal life. I at first thought that it was a Netflix Original but it seems it doesn’t carry that Netflix Original logo so apparently it’s not. It has one season up right now with 8 episodes. So let’s get into it…

So I went into this show not really knowing what to expect, I haven’t read any other reviews on it or really read anything about it. But when it started I could tell it was almost in the same vein as Seinfeld in that it boggles back and forth between some of his standup and the show. That said, I did enjoy this show and found it very funny. It’s a different kind of humor and it really works in this episode. The chemistry between Rob and the stalker guy is very good, they are great on screen together. The acting is very nice and the writing is good as well. The jokes are funny enough to make you laugh and keep you entertained throughout.

In conclusion, yes, I think this show is definitely worth watching! Check it out!

Superstore – Season 1 – Episode 4

Superstore 1Today we will take a look at the episode of Superstore that just came on at the time I am writing this blog. I wanted to live blog it (even though the blog will release a few days after) and see if the fourth episode kept up the momentum of the first three and stayed as fun, good and entertaining. So let’s take a look…

SUPERSTORE -- "Pilot" -- Pictured: (l-r) Colton Dunn as Garrett, Ben Feldman as Jonah, America Ferrera as Amy, Nichole Bloom as Cheyenne -- (Photo by: Trae Patton/NBC)The episode starts with all our characters in the break room,  inner dialogue between them all. Jonah has dug himself a pretty hefty hole in the first 3 minutes of the episode. I must say, based on the first 5 minutes, it’s just as hilarious as the previous episodes. Let’s keep watching and find out if it continues to hold up. This episode is the first time Amy has admitted to Jonah that she is married and has a kid. Then, Glenn, the store manager, offers to adopt Cheyenne’s unborn baby. Then, Dina throws her hat in the ring to adopt as well, for a pretty odd reason that you’ll have to watch the show to hear about. Apparently, according to Jonah, humans hold bananas wrong and he is pretty upset about it when people bring it up, especially when teasing him about the mannequin looking like him. Okay a few minutes into the episode and I was laughing very, very hard. Jonah had taken the mannequin that looked like him and tried to shove it in the cardboard baler and it had broken it and caused the alarms to sound. Glenn, the store manager, went back there to check it out and he say the feet sticking out and was screaming ‘you monster’ to Jonah trying to yank it out…he thought he had tried to shove a person in there. HILARIOUS! There is another hilarious scene with Jonah and a mannequin but I will not describe that one, but it made me laugh out loud as well.

superstore 4So in conclusion, the answer is YES. This episode was just as if not more funny than the previous 3! If you aren’t watching this series you are missing out!

Colony – Season 1 Episode 1

Colony 1Today I decided to take a look at the new series that is set to start on January 14th on USA called Colony. This is a new series featuring Josh Holloway, for you Lost fans that is the person that played Sawyer. This series is slotted for a 10 episode first season and the pilot episode released on USA’s website for early viewing, which is what I done. I am going to share my thoughts about what the series is about, what I think of it and so on from my perspective below. Keep in mind, I could be completely wrong in my assumptions of what is happening, but hey, that’s what makes blogging fun, right?

So the episode throws us into the world pretty quickly and it’s very apparent that something is going on, something major has changed the world. It is portrayed as an occupation, by whom…or what, I am not sure. After watching the first episode I am assuming it’s some sort of alien, but that’s never really shown in the episode, except the ship hyper-accelerating as a show at one point. But anyway, the show is following two character, a husband and wife (and their kids) as they try to survive in this world. By the end of the episode we learn that the dad was ex-military and FBI in the fugitive program and the people that are part of the occupation want him to work for them. His wife, however, is part of the resistance to get rid of the occupation. Based on what we have seen so far I don’t think the husband knows she is part of the resistance. It seems that there is a line drawn in the sand for those that side with the occupation and those that do not.

After watching the first episode I have to say that I am indeed intrigued and I am in fact excited to see where this series goes. It really does seem like a pretty large undertaking that should be a fun thing to watch!
